Metal Refinement

Lets begin with the reasons for the merger:

Lycerin got a big part in starting this. He was a member of UGF, joined MoX and founded Din. Therefore the merger was first planned to be between UGF, MoX and Din.
The main intentions were to build a multigaming clan, to increase activity and last but not least to bring friends back to play into one clan.
B&W (played by MoX) was on its way down at this time, UGF had some activity problems and Din was limited by few members cause the clan was quite recently founded.
"dre" joined the merger cause one of their members was a member of UGF and they liked the idea behind it.

After the merger every clan built up a section with the game that was played by the clan before. MoX playing Black and White at that time decided to change to an other game. So the Unreal Tournament and Tribes 2 section were born.
Unfortunately they had to be closed quite soon after cause there were too few members active to keep these sections.

This caused a number of players without affiliation to any section. But it didn't take long and a new game was found: the MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) Galaxy Wars.

A new drawback in Metal Refinement history was the time "dre" left the clan to play on their own again. A major reason was that the CS section never really got great links to the rest of the clan. The origin of this missing link might have been that "dre" mainly used IRC but the rest of the clan was not convinced by this system back then.

So Metal played SC/BW, Diablo II and GW. Some attempts to get the CS section back to life failed unfortunately.

There was room for an additional section cause there were still some former MoX members which weren't really convinced by GW or didn't feel like it was everything they wanted to play in Metal.
Battle Realms was chosen to be this additional section. The section growed fast and we even planned to build a league for it. But unfortunately we soon had to recognize that BR didn't draw a big online community. So that section died quite as fast as it grew of reasons like those which forced MoX to quit B&W before.

Soon after that the Diablo II section was closed due to inactivity. In result the BW section was quite the only active one back then. This was something like the darkest hour for the project we planned as we started Metal Refinement. Major ideas seemed to be lost.

Then Phoe and Lycerin had the first idea to build a section for the upcoming release of WC III. This idea grew up to an active section after the game was out and Matchbox became its leader. The section grew fast. Unlike the other sections before the regional focus was Singapore. BW also reached a great ammount of internationallity back then but there were still approximately 50% germans in this section.
In conclusion this was the last thing Metal Refinement needed to be a true international clan.

Some time later a new attempt was made to build up a section for an ego shooter. UT 2003 was chosen to be this game.
It started really promising but lacked some additional members. So one day the section decided to merge with Agon. A quite well known german CS and UT2k3 clan at that time.

After this backlash there was an additional one to come: the WC 3 section which had started to play in several german leagues had a time of big inactivity as the leader wasn't able to spend as much time as he did before due to his work and family.

Today the WC 3 section is nearly revitalised again. The only thing missing now is a leader for the WC3 section cause Matchbox had left the clan at the turn of the year.
